Is Community Pass an annual pass?
No. For 2026, Community Pass is a seasonal pass that runs until September 30, 2026. All Community Passes issued in 2026 will expire on that date, regardless of when you sign up.
How much does Community Pass cost?
Community Pass pricing is prorated based on when you sign up, at $5 per month, with a maximum cost of $20 for the full season.
Your price depends on how many months remain in the program when you apply:
- February–May: $20
- June: $15
- July: $10
- August: $5

Who can apply for Community Pass?
Community Pass eligibility is assessed at the individual level. Each applicant must meet the eligibility criteria directly.
Eligibility includes:
- Leisure Access Pass
- Red Compass Card
- Greater Vancouver Food Bank Membership
- Proof of Annual Income Less Than $38,000
- A Persons With Disabilities Designation
- A Valid Student Card from any Secondary School in Vancouver
Third-party referrals are no longer accepted as a form of eligibility.
What changed about referrals in 2026?
For 2026, eligibility no longer includes referrals from partner organizations. This change helps ensure a more consistent, fair, and transparent application process for all applicants.
What is the Youth Pass and who is eligible?
The Youth Pass is a Community Pass option available to students aged 12–18. For 2026, the Youth Pass is open to all students, regardless of school or institution.
Youth Passes provide unlimited 60-minute rides on classic bikes and expire on September 30, 2026.
Is the Community Pass available to everyone?
Community Pass is offered as a limited-availability program. Applications are reviewed on a first-come, first-served basis, and the program may close once capacity is reached.
Why did the Community Pass change in 2026?
Community Pass has grown significantly over the years, and demand continues to increase. The 2026 updates help ensure the program can continue in a way that is fair, manageable, and sustainable, while still offering one of the most affordable bike share equity programs in North America.
Why is Community Pass now a seasonal pass instead of an annual pass?
Moving to a seasonal pass with a clear end date allows Mobi to reassess the program each year, respond to funding and operational realities, and plan for a stronger long-term Community Pass program.
Why is pricing prorated instead of a flat annual price?
Prorated pricing ensures members only pay for the months they can actually use the pass. At $5 per month (up to a maximum of $20), the 2026 pricing reflects the remaining time in the season rather than charging the same amount regardless of when someone signs up.
Why is there a limit on the number of Community Passes?
The Community Pass requires a significant operating subsidy. Setting a limit on the number of passes allows Mobi to manage the program responsibly while continuing to provide meaningful access for those who rely on it.
What happens if the program reaches capacity?
If capacity is reached, new applications may be paused or closed. Submitting an application does not affect your ability to purchase other Mobi passes or ride options.
How long does it take to hear back after applying?
Our team reviews applications as quickly as possible. You can expect to hear back within 2–5 business days after submitting your application.
What happens after September 30, 2026?
All Community Passes issued in 2026 will expire on September 30, 2026. We will review program performance over the summer and share details about future Community Pass offerings when available.
Does this mean Community Pass is ending?
No. Community Pass remains a priority for Mobi. The 2026 structure is designed to help protect the future of the program and support a more sustainable long-term approach.
