Mobi Member Profile: Meet Alistair
Meet Alistair,

He was born, raised, and educated in the UK and moved to Vancouver when he was 26. His work life is split between running his own mapping consultancy and balancing for Mobi by Shaw Go. This combination provides him with a good 'balance'.

We asked him a few questions about his Mobi by Shaw Go experience. Here are his responses:

1) When was the last time you rode a bike?
I ride every day. Sometimes one of my own bikes and sometimes on a Mobi (I was a founding member). On special days or longer trips, my partner and I will get out the tandem!

2) How do you integrate Mobi into your daily routine?
Mobi is great for commuting to work. I live and work mostly in the Mobi “zone”, so its a no-brainer to ride the Mobi around town. My own bikes have all got clipless pedals, so they are more suited for long-distance bike rides. Riding a Mobi means no special shoes, no lock, no helmet, and no worries. It's the perfect system for my lifestyle. Other classic Mobi trips include going to the gym, going downtown to socialize, and riding leisurely around the seawall!

3) Where is your favorite place to Mobi to and why?
My favourite place to Mobi is anywhere. The stations I use the most are the ones closest to my house, closest to my partner's house, closest to my gym, and closest to my favourite bar. But I've visited every station in the network over the past year.

4) What is your favourite part of Mobi by Shaw Go?
My favourite thing is simply that it exists. We have a crisis on this planet that demands immediate action. We need to use less and share more. Mobi is an example of how we can share existing resources and reduce our environmental impact in a small way. The effect on a global scale is minuscule, but it sends a message of hope to Vancouverites that there is a better way.

5) Do you have any Mobi by Shaw Go tips and tricks?
Wear waterproof pants and/or carry a little cloth to dry off the seat if it's been raining.

6) Words of encouragement for new users?
You can fit a lot more into your life with Mobi. A 10 minute walk to the store is 3 minutes on Mobi. There and back that's an extra 14 minutes of staring at your phone. Meeting someone downtown? $2.75 and 30 minutes on the bus becomes 8 minutes on Mobi. That's an extra 22 minutes you can spend at the coffee bar, and buys you an americano.

CLOSING THOUGHT:  Mobi is cool. And it's cool because you are doing it.
