Mobi Member Profile: Meet Dimitrios
Meet Dimitrios.

Dimitrios was born in Greece and spent most of his youth in Belgium. As a young adult, Dimitrios studied and worked in Scotland before moving to Vancouver in early 2015. Dimitrios currently works as a naval architect, helping design and perform engineering analysis on ships and floating structures.

We asked him a few questions about his Mobi by Shaw Go experience. Here are his responses:

How do you integrate Mobi into your daily routine?
When I commute back from work, I would get off the bus a few stops earlier and ride the last 2k home on a Mobi. Also, I use Mobi when I do my groceries, going to meet friends or when I am running errands. Finally, as I am a long-distance runner, Mobi gives me the opportunity to do some easy recovery rides and to help loosen the muscles after a heavy workout or a long running session.

What is your biking style?
I don’t consider myself to be an avid cyclist but I don’t drive or own a car and I really try to do my bit to be as green as possible. For me Mobi is a convenient, cheap and fast way to go from place to place while exercising and helping the environment.

Where is your favorite place to Mobi to and why?
I enjoy riding from home to the Central Branch of the Vancouver Public Library. I go through the fun downhill section of Yukon St. from 10th Ave. to the Cambie Bridge and if you get all the traffic lights you can go pretty fast which is cool! On a bright  day  you enjoy a spectacular view of Vancouver and the mountains on the Cambie Bridge. The last part near the library is always buzzing with people near the stadium and there are plenty of stations to dock near-by.

Do you have any Mobi Tips or Tricks?
I always check that the brakes are working and the tires are well inflated before I undock a bike. I also carry with me a small plastic bag to put on the seat and a cloth to wipe the water as it rains a lot in Vancouver!

What is your favorite part of Mobi?
You don’t need any fancy accessories to use Mobi and there are so many stations that you are never too far away from one.

Do you have any words of encouragement for new users?
With the weather improving all it takes is a nice little ride along the Seawall on a bright day and that’s all you need to get started! Try it first on short trips and once you get a feel for it you can include Mobi in your everyday life.

If you have anything else you would like to add, we would be more than happy to hear it! (A funny story? Embarrassing moment? Or simply something you are dying to share?)
8 out of 10 cyclists stopping at traffic lights or intersections with me will ask if I like Mobi, if the bikes are heavy and if they are comfortable! Even a police officer asked me one day my opinion on the new bike share :)
