Meet Miranda,
She moved to Vancouver from Victoria in 2015 after doing an undergrad in environmental studies & sociology with a minor in Business. Miranda now works as a marketing coordinator at Vantage Point - a not-for-profit organization that works to transform leadership in the not-for-profit sector.
We asked her a few questions about her Mobi by Shaw Go experience. Here are her responses:
1) How do you integrate Mobi into your daily routine?
I use Mobi to get to work and on the weekends to get around. A great perk of Mobi is
that I can pick up a bike on multiple points along my trip. This means I can stop off for
groceries or walk part of the way. If it starts to rain, I can find a nearby station, pop open
my umbrella and walk or bus to my destination. I really like the flexibility.
2) Where is your favorite place to Mobi to and why?
I really love biking along the Seawall between Granville Island and Science World. When
Mobi first came out I was working in Gastown, so I would I pick up a bike at Granville
Island and ride into Gastown to get to work. It was a pretty magical morning commute!
3) What is your favorite part of Mobi by Shaw Go?
Being part of the Mobi community is really great. As I’m still fairly new to the
Vancouver, the Mobi membership helped me feel more connected to the city.
Whenever I pass a station, or someone on a Mobi bike I am reminded that I’m part of
this awesome local bike share network.
4) Do you have any Mobi by Shaw Go Tips or Tricks?
Most stations will have bikes ready to go, but if you are going to a major intersection
like Granville & Georgia, it’s always good to check the Mobi app first to ensure there are
bikes available.
When using the basket, I always use the elastic strap – this keeps my belongings from
eagerly jumping out when I hit any bumps in the road.
Also – Mobi bikes have kickstands. I did not realize this for the longest time!
5) Words of encouragement for New Users?
Mobi has been such a great addition to my routine and has come in handy countless
times for last minute trips. And a great bonus is that Mobi bike stations are placed
strategically around the city, so there is always a bike lane or bike-friendly road adjacent
to the station or super close by.
6) Do you have anything else to add?
I like how Mobi is a conversation starter. I’ve had a lot of people ask me about how it
works. I’m always happy to share my experience.
I noticed that a few Mobi stations in my neighborhood are close to locally owned
businesses. It was neat to notice myself shopping more at some of these businesses
after dropping off a bike. I am excited to see that Mobi can change consumer habits (like
mine!) through where the stations are placed.
