#ArtBikes2023 Artist Spotlight - Rachel Lytzki

You voted for the 2023 #ArtBikes and we delivered!

Now it’s time to get to know the brilliant minds behind this year’s #ArtBikes as we met with 5 of the incredibly talented artists from the Eastside Culture Crawl. We asked questions about their artwork and what inspires them to design and create the work that they do. Here’s what we learned and we’re excited to share everything you want to know about them.

Rachel Lytzki

Can you tell us a bit about yourself and your art?
I just really enjoying making stuff. Big things, little things. Made out of paper, made out of cake, made out of wood. All kinds of things!

Have you participated in the Eastside Culture Crawl before?
I’ve attended or volunteered every year since I moved here but this is my first year as an artist

Where do you draw your inspiration from when creating art?
From things I see around me, I like the different shapes buildings are made up of particularly.

Tell us more about the design you submitted.
It’s digital recreations of my cut paper buildings depicting various landmarks around Vancouver, all of which can be accessed by bike!

What is the main message of your work?
Sometimes the things around us are interesting enough just as they are

What’s the best piece of advice you’ve been given as an artist?
Not everything has to be a side hustle, you can just create for fun.

Where can members find your art online/offline?
www.instagram.com/r/crafty_rach online or in the Awen Haus store inside Makerlabs (780 E Cordova St)
