Founding and 1 Year Member Guide : Everything you need to know!
Thank you for joining Mobi by Shaw Go, Vancouver’s bike share program!
We’ve listed here everything you need to know to get started.
You’ve completed your online registration, now what?
You have received a confirmation email with your user code.
This 7-digit code will allow you to access the bikes before receiving your membership fob. Once you receive your fob, you’ll be able to activate it at a bike using your 7-digit user code. Please note that once your fob is activated, your user code will no longer be valid to access bikes.
Activate your fob
Walk up to any bike at the closest station and follow these steps:
- Press enter to wake up the bike
- Press 1 (“scan card” option)
- Scan your membership fob
- Enter your PIN
- Enter your 7-digit user code
- Enter your PIN again
- Scan your card again..and you’re done.
You are now ready to ride! Check out the below pointers to make your Mobi by Shaw Go trips a success.
Find a bike
Search for the nearest station with available bikes on our website here or simply spot a station on the street and walk up to it!Unlock a bike
Check out this tutorial video:- Walk up to a bike.
- Wake up the screen by pressing “Enter”.
- Choose option "1" (Scan card)
- Scan your card
- Enter your 4-digit PIN code and press enter
- At the BEEP, remove your bike and enjoy your ride!
The Mobi by Shaw Go helmet is attached to the retractable lock on the bike. When unlocking the bike, the lock will disengage, letting you access the helmet.
Tip: when the bike is unlocking from the dock, hold the helmet to avoid it from dropping as it gets released. After the bike is unlocked and you have taken the helmet out of the cable lock, retract the cable in the handlebar.
Ride
It’s the law in BC to wear a helmet when riding a bike.If you don’t have your own helmet, please use the Mobi by Shaw Go helmet provided with the bike.
If you have your own helmet, please ride with the Mobi by Shaw Go helmet in the basket or attached to the handlebar.
Adjust the saddle to your desired height, and ride off!
Remember: You can do as many trips of up to 30 minutes each (or 60 minutes depending on your plan) as you want. Extra charges apply for longer trips.
A trip starts when you unlock a bike from a dock and ends when you properly return it to a docking station.
You can wake up the screen at any time during your trip to see how long your ride has been.
Stop & Shop
If you need to make a short stop during your trip away from a station, you can use the integrated cable lock.Check out this tutorial video: Or simply follow the below steps:
- Press “Enter” to wake up the screen,
- Scan your fob when prompted,
- The bike will lock and you can then access the cable to secure the bike to a rack,
- Push the button located on the left side of the handlebar to release the cable,
- Pull the cable from the right side of the handlebar,
- Secure the bike at a bike rack,
- Insert to cable in the hole located above the tire to lock it.
To unlock the bike after a stop

- Press “Enter” to wake up the screen,
- Scan your fob and wait for the bike to unlock,
- Release the cable and push it back in the handlebar.
Return
You can return your bike at any station with an available dock within the service area.Check out this tutorial video:
Or simply follow these steps:
- Insert the front tire of bike within any available dock,
- Wait for the “Beep” to make sure the bike is properly returned and rental is ended,
- Pull the integrated cable lock from the handlebar,
- Attach the helmet to it from the top,
- Insert the cable to the slot above the tire to lock it.
